I represented my school,Nav Hind School, Rohtak Road New Delhi 110005 ,in Republic Day parade year 1964 and walked on Rajpath along with about 50 girls
Things were cool and there were no visible security arrangements for people
President came in open buggy and waved to people
Nehruji shook hands with kids
That was the start of my ‘ liberation ‘
I thought that I had achieved a lot.
I took up science with biology in class 9 and passed with distinctions in boards,class 11
Then we had schooling till class 11 and science subjects were alotted in class 9
We were taught no history civics in classes 9 to class 11 so that no dilution of science subjects was possible
Entire focus was on science and maths and medium was English, despite English medium starting from class 6 onwards
Yes,our generation born just after partition was a motivated lot
Special motivation ✨ was war with Pakistan in year 1965
Our principal was strict about recruiting only women as teachers
But there were no women teachers for physics and for chemistry and we had great women as teachers who taught us botany and zoology
Physics and Chemistry teachers were too decent men who were into higher education and getting a school job was not a time pass !
Do I regret being liberated after watching breaking news about molestation or abuse of kids and Denegration of the girl child?
Certainly No
I am still proud of my femininity
I don't abuse women friendly laws
I don't abuse the opposite gender for material gains
I believe in being human first and a woman afterwards
This has sustained me to face all weathers in my life
Innocence is charming ✨
Get lessons from life and don't get influenced by preconceived notions
Keep learning the lessons, life has in store for us as a woman
