Poha recipe for low calorie healthy food

Pohas are healthy provided minimal fats are used. Like rice and potatoes, pohas tend to absorb more fats. Therefore never eat fried rice, pohas or potatoes if healthy lifestyles along with counting calories is the mantra

Yes poha helps to cut down calories because it's more filling provided it's cooked the right way, with lesser oil.

Let me share my recipe to cook poha along with others as filling agents.

I will be sharing pictures of stages of cooking healthy pohas tomorrow morning 🌄 because if taken as breakfast food, it's complete and nourishing and doesn't cause hunger pangs for 5 or 6 hours.

Cut onions, green chillies, curry leaves, tomatoes, capsicum, boiled potatoes and choose all of these or few of them according to taste and availability.

I prefer to add roasted peanuts also because of getting some protein and good fats

Use a nonstick flat thick based cooking pan with tight lid

Keep heat low

Saute vegetables together for a minute with minimal oil or butter or desi ghee all together because cooking time is same.

Salt, haldi and red chillies according to taste to be sprinkled and Not to be Mixed yet.

Take dry poha as equal amount of vegetables

Put poha in sieve and put it under running water, it's enough to soften them and sieve helps to remove excess water.

Do Not Soak Poha because we want each piece to stand out

Put softened poha in cooking pan along with sauted vegetables mix.

Cover tightly, Keep gas at minimum. Don't open the lid. Poha and vegetables are being cooked for just 5 minutes

Don't Open the Lid,after switching off gas

Wait for 5 to 10 minutes.( cooling time depends upon temperature outside)

Open and mix cooked ingredients while some of the steam generated by water in vegetables is still visible.

Serve steaming hot as it is or with home made chutney without oils.

Decorate with coriander leaves before serving though I don't do it,fearing infections caused by uncooked leaves.

Ready to serve hot..as it is and Don't Have to Court Calories.
